Damascus International 2001:
** Sagesse cruise past Kuwait's Al Jahraa **

-October 13th:
* Sagesse v/s Al Jahra (119-61)

Sherrel Ford had 35 points, snatched 10 steals and was short of one rebound to score the first triple double in the Damascus international tournament, as he steered Sagesse to a deserved win over Kuwait’s Al Jahraa, 119-61. While the Kuwaitis scored 43 points in the first half, Sagesse defense allowed them only 18 points in the third and fourth quarters.
Head Coach Ghassan Sarkis started the game with an unusual lineup that included Assane N'Diaye and Marwan Hajj alongside Ford, Ali Chamsine and Dani Barhoum in the point, and continued with yet another unusual lineup with two guards and three forwards. The first lineup scored 54 points and the second added 65.
N'Diaye, who played the first quarter, scored 7 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and blocked three shots. Hajj, who had one point in the first quarter, finished with 9 points, 11 rebounds and one block. Chamsine had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and as much steals.
During the break, Sarkis told his players the Kuwaitis would shift to zone defense because they failed to match Sagesse players in individual defense. He kept Hajj on the floor alongside Johnny Rhodes Ford Elie Mechantaf and Fadi Khatib. While Sagesse was 2-of-10 from long distance, they were 9-of-16 from the paint and 3-of-4 from the foul line. Hajj grabbed 8 rebounds in this quarter alone while Khatib added three more. The Kuwaitis were limited to four points.
Sarkis played without any center in the final quarter, with Badr Makki running the floor, alongside Ford, Rhodes, Mechantaf and Khatib. They scored 38 points against 15 for the Kuwaitis.
Sagesse rest on Saturday and meet Egyptian Al Ittihad Sunday afternoon.
